You can spend a lot of money on things that will help you become a better blackjack player. You'll find a lot of online courses. You can even hire personal coaches and tutors to help you get a better edge over the casino.
Those products might have some value, but we're big fans of blackjack books, which are less expensive.
To find out more about some of the best blackjack books, check out our site. Some of the best books in the field are shown below.
Blackjack Bluebook II by Fred Renzey
Blackjack Bluebook II is called "the simplest winning strategies ever written." You can learn how to play the game, how to use basic strategy, and how to get an advantage by counting cards in a book about the game. We especially liked the part that explained how people often mishandle their hands.
In the same way that many websites do, this book has a section that dispels the most common blackjack myths. It also has three different ways to count cards:
I Kiss II Kiss III
We also liked the many illustrations and tables in the book, many of which were in color.
Blackjack for Blood by Bryce Carlson
For example, Blackjack for Blood is called "The Card-Bible, Counter's and the Complete Winning Guide." This is the title of the book. If you want to become a good card counter, we think this is one of the only books you'll need. There are other books out there that go into more detail about the math and history of how people have tried to win. This one doesn't go into as much detail. But it's practical to the max.
Carlson tells you how to play, how to use basic strategy, and how to count cards in his book. But he also talks about how to hide your advantage play efforts, which is important if you don't want to get kicked out of the game.
In order to enjoy blackjack, you don't even need to be a pro at it. He shows how to get enough of an advantage to turn blackjack into a hobby where you can win money and get freebies from the casinos without risking a lot of money on the math side of the game. And if you want to become a professional, you can do that, too.
It's called the Omega II, and it's how to count in this book.
The Theory of Blackjack by Peter A. Griffin
Its title is "The Compleat Card Counter's Guide to the Casino Game of 21." If you want to learn how to count cards, this is one of the best books out there. It talks about the math and numbers that go into the card counting systems that are used today. It's a good book to read if you want to know how we came up with things like how efficient we were at playing and how many times we could play.
It's also very useful. If you want to learn how to play basic strategy and how to count cards, you can do that too. It's a lot of math, but it's still a lot of fun, even though it's a lot of math.
Playing Blackjack as a Business by Lawrence Revere
There are a lot of older books on how to play blackjack as a business. The author was also very interesting. He also works as a dealer and a pit boss at different casinos. On the other side of the fence, he worked for casinos who were trying to find card-counting cheaters.
It's said that he started dealing blackjack in the back of a barber shop when he was just 13 or 14.
You'll learn how to play the game in a way that's simple and easy to understand in this book. It's aimed at people who want to become professional players. It's a little old, though, and may not be up to date in some ways. The book was written in the early 1970s.
Beat the Dealer by Edward O. Thorp
Beat the Dealer is called "A Winning Strategy for the Game of Twenty-One," and it's about how to win. When people think of card counting, they think of Thorp, the author. He is called the "father." This is an old book that may not be up to date in some ways, but it still has some of the best and most simple explanations of how and why card counting works.
It also tells you how to play and which strategies are best for beginning, intermediate, and advanced players. The sections on cheating aren't likely to be very useful to modern players, because very few casinos cheat anymore. The charts and tables are also very good, and they are very useful.
Knock-Out Blackjack by Ken Fuchs and Olaf Vancura
Knock-Out Blackjack is called "The Easiest Card Counting Method Ever Created." Because the Ace Five count may be easier than the Ace Four count, we think this is a little bit of an overstatement,
Even though Knock-Out Blackjack isn't the easiest system to use to win, it might be close to the easiest. I think it's right up there with the number of Red Sevens, at least,
On our site, you'll find information about the system that this book talks about. It's called "KO Blackjack" or "KO Card Counting System." In this case, it's an unbalanced count that doesn't need the conversion from a running count to a true count.
Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong
A book called "Professional Blackjack" doesn't have a title. It's written by one of the best blackjack writers in the business today. Useful: It goes into enough depth to be used as a real reference book. It might not be the best place to start for new people, though.
Author: This is a book that was written a long time ago. The author thinks that it is very easy to get an advantage over the casino. When it comes to getting an advantage without getting caught in today's casinos, things aren't as easy.
Books show how to use the Hi Lo system, as well as how to use the Wong Halves system.
Million Dollar Blackjack by Ken Uston
If you look on eBay or Amazon, you can buy used copies of Million Dollar Blackjack for a very low price. To get it, you'll have to find a used copy somewhere. During the 1970s and 1980s, this was thought to be the best way to win at blackjack. People who write games are interesting. Ken Uston, the game's author, may be less interesting than Lawrence Revere but he's still a lot of fun.
Blackjack Attack by Don Schlesinger
In Blackjack Attack, the title is "Playing the Pros' Way." In used copies, it's easy to find. The author is a great mathematician who knows how to explain how much to bet, how to think about risk, how to build a blackjack team, and how to compare one card counting system to another.
Blackbelt in Blackjack by Arnold Snyder
Black Belt in Blackjack is called "Using 21 as a Martial Art." It's a clever way to tie in with the theme, but don't let that fool you. It's a very useful book, and we've used it a lot during our time as gamblers.
This book also talks about some of the more interesting advantage play techniques we talk about on this site, like shuffle tracking. He also talks about a lot of different ways to count, like:
The Red Seven Count
High-low count
It's called "Zen Count."
Winning Casino Blackjack for the Non-Counter by Avery Cardoza
The main idea of Winning Casino Blackjack for the Non-Counter is easy enough to get your head around. Its goal is to show you how to get an advantage over the casino without having to keep track of the cards you play. Make sure you find good single deck games and play them with perfect basic strategy to do that. It's not very big, but if you're good at it, you'll win in the long run.
Unlike most blackjack books, Winning Casino Blackjack for the Non-Counter talks about how to play blackjack online.
Big Book of Blackjack by Arnold Snyder
It's one of the first books we recommend to people who ask us how they can start playing blackjack. The Big Book of Blackjack is one of them. It's written well enough for the novice to understand, but it also has enough information that you can use it to make money and even become a professional. It has 27 chapters, many of which are interesting because they give information about how the game has changed over the years and how it has evolved.
In it, you learn about the Red 7 count.
Blackjack Secrets by Stanford Wong
Blackjack Secrets is a good book if you're just starting out, but if you're already a good player, you might be better off with one of the other books on this list. As with many of the books on our list, some of the information in this one has changed. That doesn't mean the book is useless, but you need to be able to read between the lines.
The book talks about the Hi Lo counting system in great detail. It also talks about how to practice the best.
Blackjack: A Winner’s Handbook by Jerry L. Patterson
Blackjack: A Winner's Handbook talks about how automatic shuffling machines change the game. Even though counting cards sometimes doesn't work, it also explains why that might be the case. Patterson's book is different from most of the other books on this list because it has a section on Internet gambling. Some of the information in that section is also out of date.
We also found his ideas about how to learn more about the game through informational websites interesting. The advice on how to manage your money is great. We love practical ways to improve our mental discipline.
Finally, we like books that give us tips on how to practice. It's not enough to be able to count cards. You need a practical way to improve your skills.
