Best Professional Development Books

There are so many good books out there that it can be hard to even start. As for professional books that have an impact on us and help shape us, there are so many to choose from, but not all of them are good. This time of year may give you a chance to do some things. You can start reading a new book and learn a little about your job now.

Top Books for your Professional Development

Everyone has a different idea of what makes a good book for them, but I've only chosen books that have helped me in my life and work. Only books I've read are on this list. I want to be able to say that they are good.

The Happiness Advantage

That's why this is the only book on the list that I put in the order of my favorite. It is without a doubt the book that has changed my view of life the most on this list. The Happiness Advantage is a book written by Shawn Achor that talks about how we think we get to be successful and how we think we get there. It also talks about how we think we get there. Here's a little bit from the book cover. "Most people want to be successful in life, but not everyone can do it. Everyone wants to be happy. Most people think that if you work hard, you'll be successful, and once you're successful, you'll be happy. But a decade of research in the field of positive psychology has shown that this formula is backwards, which is bad news. The happiness that comes with success doesn't come from the same place. This is a must-read for everyone.

Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action

He is by far my favorite public speaker. When you look at the top 10 best Ted talks, Simon's talks make up most of them. He's smart and not boring. He wrote a book called Start with Why that talks about why some of the world's most successful people were able to be so successful. To be a leader in the workplace, no matter what kind of job you have or what kind of job you want to have down the road, this is a book you need to read! If you want to get people to do something, and you're in a position to do so (or want to be), read this book!

The Missing Piece

People think this book is for kids at first. Even so, Shel Silverstein is one of the best poets and writers of our time. He used simple ways to teach important lessons about living. This is not a book for kids. As in, a slice of pizza that went missing. That's the story of "The Missing Piece." As the circle moves down the road, it sings:

Oh, I'm looking for the piece I'm looking for.

A piece of me that I've been missing for a long time is on the lookout for me.

Hi-dee-ho, I'm going now.

looking for the piece I've been looking for

Finally, the circle finds the missing piece that fits perfectly, but there is something wrong. The circle can't sing or do the things it likes to do because it can't find the piece. Every now and then, we like the circle. Trying to find something that will make us happy when it is right in front of us? Then, read this book and think about it.

Who Moved My Cheese

It was a great book. It's about how you deal with change at work and how you adapt to it. "Cheese" is something you see every day, so when it doesn't show up there, how do you feel? What you do when things change at work and in your life can say a lot about who you are and how successful you will be. People who work are going to find this book interesting because so much has changed this year.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

This book is one of the best of all time! All over the world, people have read Steven R. Covey's book about building not just good habits, but also good habits that work. Covey died in 2012, but his work lives on. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People has been translated into 40 languages and sold more than 25 million copies. Every day, it helps people become more effective.

Emotional Intelligence

Everyone has heard of IQ tests, but what about emotional intelligence, which is more important? Are you a good person? The ability to identify and manage one's own emotions, as well as the emotions of other people, is called "emotional intelligence." Can you keep your emotions in check at work? You can also control the emotions of other people. When Daniel Goleman wrote Emotional Intelligence, he thought people could learn how to deal with their emotions and use them to do good things. It's also important to be able to control the emotions of your employees and coworkers.

The Power of Habit

Habit is a powerful force in the world. Over time, you will learn bad habits and good habits. A powerful thing to do is to break bad habits. But learning how to build good habits is even more powerful. The Power of Habit talks about why and how we build habits and how to use good habits to your advantage both at work and at home.

Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life…And Maybe the World

William H. McRaven gave the commencement speech at the University of Texas at Austin on May 17, 2014. Afterward, the Admiral turned this speech into a book called Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life. And, maybe, the whole world. The first thing you do when you wake up is make your bed. This will set the tone for how the rest of your day will go. When you want to learn more about Admiral McRaven, here's a short bio:

Admiral William H. McRaven is the author of Make Your Bed and Sea Stories: My Life in Special Operations, both of which have been on the New York Times bestseller list for a long time. As a Navy SEAL, he was always in charge. As a Four-Star Admiral, his last job was to be in charge of all U.S. Special Operations Forces.

I think he's someone who can get things done.

The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World

Yes, this book is a real treat to read. Book: This one was written by The Dalai Lama and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Desmond Tutu. It talks about the idea of joy and how to be happy in life. One of the most interesting stories in the book comes from the Dalai Lama. He talks about how focusing on someone else's problems and pain can help you forget about your own problems. In order to be happier, you need to get out of your own head and help other people and be more present.

Think and Grow Rich

It took Napoleon Hill 25 years to study the world's most successful people, and he did it for that long. His favorite subject was John D. Rockefeller, who would be worth $318 billion in today's money. In the end, Hill came up with "The Laws of Success," which he called a set of rules. If I give it away, I won't. This is a great book that will change how you think about success and how you can get it.
