Books About Thieves

There are a lot of mythical books that are about thieves in fantasy. You may have heard of The Lies of Locke Lamora, Six of Crows, and Mistborn: The Final Empire, but there are many more. What other stories can you find?

How did this happen? If you want to know, read on!

I've put book descriptions, reader ratings, and summaries of positive and negative comments for each of these fantasy novels in this list.

On the other hand, here's a comparison chart if you just want a quick overview.

Mistress of Thieves by Carrie Summers

Thieves. Fools. An underworld love story.

In the past, Myrrh has lost the only real friend she's ever known. Finally, the city guards caught her mentor, an old thief who was the closest thing she had to a family, and he was caught. He's dead. If she doesn't figure out who betrayed him, she'll be the next person to be hurt by him.

In the beginning of her search, she is double-crossed by a fellow freelancer and sold to a mysterious new crime syndicate. He puts a sack over her head. He then takes her to the home of the syndicate's boss, a man named Glint. Myrrh thinks he's going to kill her, but he has other ideas.

He is a crook who hasn't changed his ways. Glint is both charismatic and complicated. His information about her mentor's disappearance will change everything she thought she knew about the city's dark side.

On our list of books about thieves, Mistress of Thieves is the first one we want to read. This book was called a suspenseful adventure by fans. Readers kept speeding through its pages because of its daring heists and plot twists.

Some fans called the main character a "anti-hero." Myrrh was both smart and tough, but at the same time he was also kind. Because of this, many found her cute and were captivated by her inner turmoil through the book.

Angry Comments

As for critics, these people tended to focus on a part of the story that they thought was not very convincing. Most often, people said that Myrrh's reluctance to kill made sense because she had lived in a crime-ridden area her whole life.

At the same time, Marion Blackwood wrote a book called A Storm of Silver and Ash.

Description

What would you do to save your friend?

Your heart? You have a soul. Is this your life?

There are whispers of "The Oncoming Storm" all over the Underworld because it is so powerful. Some people think she's an assassin, because she's a great thief and can use a knife very well. It's all true. Another thing: She also has the social graces of a bull.

Running across rooftops and hiding in the dark are things you'll see her do. That is, if she isn't being ambushed and blackmailed into doing a seemingly impossible task at the same time.

With no choice but to get into a power fight, the Oncoming Storm must leave the world she knows and navigate through assassinations and calculating elves. She must also deal with desperate royals.

It won't be long before her journey is over. She will have loved, saved, killed, and double-crossed everyone around her. It's only a question of who. Before the clock runs out, the Oncoming Storm must decide who to trust and who to betray.

They say what they think.

We also have a fantasy book called A Storm of Silver and Ash on our list of books about thieves. There were a lot of people who said that this story had all the things that they loved about fantasy mixed together with a modern twist.

Overall, Storm, the main character in this book, was very interesting and fast-paced. Fans said she was witty, happy, and brave. It was clear to them what she was like, where she came from, and why she did what she did, and these readers found her easy to connect with.

Angry Comments

Is A Storm of Silver and Ash good?

Overall, these people said that the book's tendency to break the fourth wall made it hard for them to get into the story. Some people didn't like Storm because she came across as harsh.

The Stolen Kingdom by Bethany Atazadeh

How can she keep her kingdom safe if she can't keep herself safe?

Princess Arie didn't think she would be able to use Jinni's Gift. At first, she hides her thoughts from everyone else. That's not good news for her. The forbidden Gift is growing out of control.

When a neighboring king tries to get her to marry him and take over her kingdom, it's going to be found out. One slip could cost her the throne. And her life, too.

Lamp, heist, and a Jinni-crew hunter's of thieves are her only chance of getting rid of this Gift. She must remove it before she's found out. Or you could die while trying to get to the point where you could get

The Stolen Kingdom is a kind of Aladdin story, but it's not very close to the story. There are Mermaids, Dragons, and the mysterious Jinni in this story, but it isn't the fairy tale you remember from your childhood.

They say what they think.

This is the next book on our list of fantasy books about thieves. The Stolen Kingdom is the next one on the list. This book was based on Aladdin and had a magical adventure story and characters that were easy to like.

A lot of people said that the story was fun and exciting. Each event in the book built on the one before it, creating a fast-paced plot that kept the reader turning the pages.

The fans also wanted to see Arie and Kadin have a happy ending together. Among other things, people said that Arie was a lot of fun to read about because of her determination, courage, and love for her kingdom.

Angry Comments

There is no book that everyone likes. When critics were reviewing The Stolen Kingdom, they said that the plot had a lot of coincidences in favor of the main characters. People who saw them were thrown out of the story.

Other people, on the other hand, said that the relationships between the characters grew quickly, to the point where they seemed rushed.

Mark of the Thief by Jennifer A. Nielsen

In the mines outside of Rome, Nic is a slave. He is made to go into a sealed cavern that holds the lost treasures of Julius Caesar, and he finds a lot more than gold and gems. He finds an ancient bulla, an amulet that belonged to the great Caesar and is filled with magic that was once only used by the Gods. Some Romans would kill for it, and he finds it.

The bulla is now coursing through Nic's body, and he wants to be free. That's not what happens. Instead, he finds himself at the center of an evil plot to get rid of the emperor and start the Praetor War, a fight to destroy Rome from the inside.

Traitors and spies are everywhere, and each one wants to use Nic's new powers for their own dark purposes.

Nichols is on a mission to stop a rebellion and save Rome. To do this, he must use the magic inside of him to defeat the most powerful and savage leaders of the empire.

They say what they think.

What about Mark of the Thief, the next book on our list of books about thieves in fantasy?

This book had a lot of twists and turns. It had a plot full of trails, secrets, and fast-paced action.

Fans also said that the characters in the story were fun to follow. For example, they were able to relate to Nic and enjoy his sense of humor, but they also found Aurelia, who was more serious, interesting.

Overall, people thought Mistress of Thieves was a fun ride through an ancient Rome-themed fantasy.

Angry Comments

It was not good. Overall, these people were more interested in the characters.

Several people said that they looked like well-known character types, but others said that they didn't have a lot of depth to them. They couldn't connect with the characters and get invested in their stories because it was hard for them to do that.

The Legend of Eli Monpress: The Spirit Thief by Rachel Aaron

An artist named Eli Monpress is good at what he does. He's a lot of fun. He's also a thief.

But not any thief. There aren't many better thieves than him. He's also a wizard, which makes him even more dangerous. To put his plan into action with the help of his partners, a demonseed who can step through shadows and punch through walls as well as the best magic sword in the world, he'll use their help.

In the first step, he'll need to steal some big things to make the bounty on his head bigger. But for now, he'll start small. He'll just take something that no one will notice for a while.

Like a monarch.

They say what they think.

If you like books about thieves, you should read The Legend of Eli Monpress: The Spirit Thief. Why did people like this book so much?

There were a lot of positive things to say about its tone. It was lighthearted, fun, and quick. A lot of people said this book was different from other books that made thief characters look gruesome.

Also, other people said that The Spirit Thief's world-building and magic system were interesting and well-detailed by other people, too. Fans said that not only were both of them unique, but the magic system had an extra bonus: It never changed its rules to help Eli.

Angry Comments

We've heard all the good things, so what's the bad? Because of these two things, most critics didn't like the book.

First, they said that the characters looked like they were flat and could be used together. The second reason they gave was that they thought the story was aimed at young people, with characters who had simple motives.
