It is a story about a time in North American history that was very bad: the Great Depression. American-Mexican trade continued, but some people lost their jobs on both sides of the border. Mexicans who thought moving to the U.S. would solve their problems were very wrong. Working conditions were very difficult, and non-local experts were paid very well. Esperanza and her family tell their story about how things have changed over the last few years.
