Best Books For Dad To Inspire & Entertain
On December 3, 2021, this was last updated. No, I don’t think so. What better way to show him how much you care than to give him a book?
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have a hard time coming up with gifts for my family and friends. We don’t always give gifts, but that doesn’t mean that the people who live near us don’t appreciate and love them.
This is one of my favorite gifts to give: a book, especially one that can be passed down or read aloud. It can also teach us something new. Maybe it’s a book about being a father or being a parent. A lot of the best dad books are also the cutest and not even about being a father. There are also books that teach dad how to cook or do something new. What about inspirational memoirs from men who have been through a lot?
There are many different picture books about dad and what nontraditional families look like, so let’s not forget about them. It’s Father’s Day. What are the best books to read?
Here are some of our favorite Father’s Day books, as well as books for anyone we call dad, grandpa, uncle, or friend. Let’s start now!You might also like these books that make you think about the world in a new way.
Inspirational Stories, People, & Books For Dad
Born A Crime by Trevor Noah
It’s a New York Times bestseller about Trevor Noah, the host of The Daily Show. He grew up in apartheid-era South Africa. Trevor also talks about this on his show. He grew up with a Black mother and a white father, which was a crime at the time.
For fathers who want to read a story about growing up and a little bit of humor, learn more about the man behind one of our favorite shows. Another good book about South Africa is this one. Amazon: Books and More
My Year Of Running Dangerously by Tom Foreman
Foreman is a lot like me: he’s a happy couch potato like me, too. In fact, I work out a lot. Foreman eventually turns into a marathoner, and this is where our differences end, so we agree to work together. After years of not running, his daughter, 18, asks him to run a marathon. He has to start all over again.
Find out about him and be inspired by his struggles and victories when you read about him and look up to him. I think My Year of Running Dangerously is a great gift for Father’s Day. Amazon
Robin by David Itzkoff
The biography of Robin Williams will be out in the spring of 2018. I can’t wait to read it. Williams’ movie Dead Poets Society made me fall in love with him.
The movies Goodwill Hunting and Mrs. Doubtfire are two of Williams’ movies that I’ve always found interesting. He is a great comedian and improvisor. Learn more about how he feels inside because of mental illness. Everyone wants to learn more about the man who won the world. Amazon
I Can’t Make This Up by Kevin Hart
Kevin Hart is a well-known comedian who grew up in North Philly, where his parents didn’t want him. When his dad took drugs, his brother also took drugs.
In his book, I Can’t Make This Up, Hart talks about how he had a hard childhood and how he became the successful man we see today. Hart, who is known for his comedic and colorful stories, tells a funny but heartwarming story about his journey to success and his modern-day beliefs that is perfect for any father who is struggling or worried about his child. Books About Parenting For Fathers
Dad Is Fat by Jim Gaffigan
The Dad Is Fat book by Jim Gaffigan is one of the most important books about parenting for dads to read. His goal was to be “that weird uncle who lives alone in New York City that everyone in the family wonders about,” but he never thought about having kids.
Gaffigan now has five kids, so he talks about what it’s like to become a father. Amazon
Being A Dad Is Weird by Ben Falcone
It’s not the only book about fatherhood. Being a Dad Is Weird talks about what it’s like to be a husband and father while also telling stories from his own childhood. It’s true that Falcone is Melissa McCarthy’s husband. He has starred in movies like Enough Said and Bridesmaids and has also done voice work.

Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern
Justin Halpern was 28 when he had to move back in with his father. In this case, having just been dumped and living with your eccentric 73-year-old father, who is a word-spitting weirdo, is a great story.
Is a book about Halpern’s dad giving him advice as he grows up. Sh*t My Dad Says is like that. Dads will love this book about a hilarious father-son relationship. Popular & Bestselling Books For Dad
Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance
Hillbilly Elegy is a #1 New York Times Bestselling book for dads. It’s a story about the working class and how to get to the next level up. If you want to read a book about politics and social science, I can’t think of a better one.
Vance talks about the heart of and problems with working and middle-class America. He also talks about the current state of the American Dream. Amazon
A Short History Of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
Bill Bryson is one of my favorite sarcastic writers. He is best known for writing memoirs and travel books. A Short History of Nearly Everything is a great book for dads who love history.
Bryson asks archaeologists, anthropologists, and mathematicians the questions that bother him the most. Amazon
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
Dad likes to read survivalist and hiking books. Do you know any good ones? You can’t help but breathe, feel, and live Krakauer’s raw emotions as you read this hard-to-read book. Jon Krakauer, an expedition climber and journalist, fights to stay alive on Everest in Into Thin Air, which is a #1 National Bookseller.
In May of 1996, a storm that was never seen comes over the already dangerous and life-threatening mountain. This memoir is an account of those events, and it will make you cry. Amazon

Cookbooks Perfect For Dads
Margaritaville: The Cookbook by Carlo Sernaglia and Julia Turshen
In May of this year, this cookbook for dads came out. I couldn’t resist adding it to the list. When I first met my husband, who is a reader and a fan of Buffett, I realized that I needed to be more diverse in the books I recommended to him.
No, I love the Margaritaville food chain, but when I think of Buffett, I don’t think of the author or any of his books. I like the “people food” in this title, like nachos, sliders, and other things that are tasty. Cocktail recipes that are both family-friendly and true to the song will also be found on this site. Whenever I cook, my food always tastes better and goes more quickly with a drink nearby. Amazon
A Man, A Pan, A Plan by Paul Kita
A Man, a Pan, and a Plan is for people who aren’t very good at cooking or who don’t eat healthy food very often. Everyday ingredients and common pots and pans can be used to make easy-to-make recipes in this book of 100 recipes. Find recipes for meatballs, desserts, and pork chops on this site, too. Amazon
The Ultimate Bar Book by Mittie Hellmich
What a great idea for Father’s Day! Why not help your dad become a better bartender? The Ultimate Bar Book is a book that tells you how to make both old and new cocktails. Take this class to learn about glasses, mix-ups, garnishes, and everything else you need to make the perfect drink. Amazon
TUL’s Favorite Book Gifts For Dads & Books I’ve Recommended To My Father
Recursion by Blake Crouch
In one of the books that my dad really liked, the author is Blake Crouch. Detective Barry Sutton is looking into a condition called False Memory Syndrome. Helena Smith, a neuroscientist, might be able to help him. The disease makes people crazy and kills them because it makes them remember whole lives that aren’t their own. Or aren’t they?
When the government gets its hands on this mind-boggling technology, everything goes down in flames. Barry and Helena can’t seem to get out of this loop. This year, Recursion was also named one of the best science fiction books on Goodreads in 2019. Amazon
