Books Like The School For Good And Evil

Is it possible that you have already read and enjoyed "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil" Novel and are now looking for other story novels with similar themes?

John Berendt's Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was published by Random House in 1994.

For 216 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list when it was originally published, it was a huge hit It was also a 1995 Pulitzer Prize finalist in the category of general nonfiction.

We've looked into the "Non-Fiction" genre and found some books that are comparable to Midnight in the Garden of Evil. In the event that you're a fan of any of these titles, you should check the price.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Book Summary

One of the most powerful and wealthiest antique dealers in the world, Jim Williams, was responsible for a murder in this novel.

He shot and killed a young man who lived with him, worked for him, and had a sexual relationship with him one evening during an argument.

Author John Berendt, a friend of William's, keeps tabs on the case and engages with others connected in it in important ways. Then, in this book, he tells us the whole story of that incident.

When it comes to true-crime books, this one is a long way from over before the first murder takes place. In the first half of the books, most of the action takes place in and around Savannah, Georgia.

At the beginning of the book, we meet Jim Williams, the man who would eventually be responsible for the crime. However, there is no indication that he will play a significant role in the story.

Because of Berendt's personal involvement and the manner in which he recounts the story, this is a unique work of crime fiction. Never does he step away from the action.

The authors of modern crime novels are able to speak directly to the reader and give you a sense of what's to come because they are no longer directly involved in the tale.

This book does not contain any of those things at all, sadly. This book reads more like a novel because of the authors' involvement. If you're a fiction reader wishing to branch out into nonfiction, this is a fantastic place to start.

Similar Books Like Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil has a lot in common with these four other novels, all of which are either "Non-Fiction" or authored by authors like John Berendt.

The City of Falling Angels, By John Berendt

John Berendt published 'City of Fallen Angels' in April 2007 after Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Novel achieved 216 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

John Berendt arrived in Venice just three days after the ancient Fenice Opera House was devastated by a massive fire. In order to capture Venice's soul, Berendt decided to visit the city during the off-season.

This inspired him to write about Venice and its people in a book. Berendt's landlords, 'Peter' and 'Rose Lauritzen,' showed him how to take use of the city as a local rather than a tourist.

Detective Berendt investigates the mysteries of a museum city and uncovers answers about the fire that ravaged it.

As a John Berendt novel, this is one of the many books that are similar to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

While Cedar trees are covered with a blanket of snow David Guterson is the author.

David Guterson worked on 'Snow Falling on Cedars' for a decade. It takes set on a little island off the coast of Washington City in the Puget Sound archipelago.

The plot revolves around a murder trial and a forbidden romance. Even before the first salmon had been caught, a large number of men set out from this island to fish for the fish.

One morning, one of them fails to show up. Occasionally, this occurs while fishing alone in a rough sea.

Nonetheless, when the body of the man is pulled from the river, 'the Sheriff', one of the snow falling on cedar figures, notices that the man appears to have received a heavy blow to the skull.

This raises the suspicions of the sheriff. The Sheriff immediately begins searching among the island's Japanese residents for the person or persons responsible.

Only 12 years ago, President 'Franklin Roosevelt' ordered the incarceration of Japanese-Americans out of concern that they might be all be Soviet agents.

Since the end of World War II, the island's Japanese people have been allowed to return. There were a large number of individuals returning from the war who had served valiantly in the United States military.

He and his gorgeous wife, 'Kabuo Miyamoto', a decorated war hero, are now farming strawberries.

The Sheriff arrests him as the primary suspect since he had been observed fishing near the boat where the deceased had been found.

In Cold Blood, By Truman Capote

"In Cold Blood," a non-fiction book like "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," was published in 1966. The murder of the Clutter family in Kansas in 1959 is the subject of this book.

"Capote" and "Harper Lee" traveled to Kansas before any suspects had been identified. They developed friendships with residents and detectives alike, as well as with the suspects themselves, as a result of their work. It's written in a style all its own, and it reads as though it were a novel.

There are times when it's cold-blooded journalism, but the victims, residents, investigators, and propagators all get caught up in it.

The Firm, By John Grisham

'The firm' is one of John Grisham's best novels, in my opinion. Mitch McDeere, the protagonist of this novel, is a recent law school graduate.

Several companies are interested in hiring him, but only one firm has made an official offer. In addition to the promise of a "three-figure" salary after a few years of hard work, a commitment to settle his college loans, and a low-interest corporate mortgage, 'Bendini Lambert' and 'Locke law firm' approach Mitch and offer him all of the above.

Mitch and Abby are moving to Memphis, Tennessee. An undercover FBI agent approaches Mitch with a series of disturbing revelations about the company that Mitch had previously dismissed.

What will Mitch decide to do when he considers the safety of his brother Ray, who has been in prison for fifteen years, and his lovely wife?

As one of the best books like Midnight's Garden on this list, there's no doubt about it.
