Top 15 Read Aloud Chapter Books For 2nd Grade Updated 04 /2024

My favorite thing to do in the classroom has always been to read aloud. I think my students do, too. To make a book come to life, read it aloud. It is also a great way to build a positive classroom environment and teach your students how to speak in the correct way. It also helps people learn languages and read in a fun and interesting way.

Some books are better for reading aloud than others, but that doesn't mean they're better than other books. Your students will be excited and interested in reading if you choose chapter books that are interesting. My favorite books to read aloud to 2nd graders are on this list. I'm sure you and your students will love these books as much as I have in my own classroom!

It will also likely make them come up with new and creative words along the way.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis is the best children's book I've ever read, hands down. Your students will be enchanted and amazed by this book, the second in the Chronicle of Narnia series. They will travel with four siblings through a wardrobe to Narnia, which is a magical land full of magic. Even though this is the second book, you can read it on its own.

Ramona and Beezus Series by Beverly Cleary

The Complete Ramona Collection by Beverly Cleary has been one of my favorite series since I was a child. It tells the story of Ramona, who is both funny and charismatic, as she makes her way through this world. Your students will want to read all of the heartwarming books in this series because of her curiosity and sass.

Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White

Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White, is a long-loved story about friendship, love, life, and death that has been read by a lot of people. A pig named Wilbur has a special relationship with a spider named Charlotte. This story is about the relationships between farm animals, especially the one between Wilbur and Charlotte. Your kids will enjoy hearing this story again and again.

The Eerie Elementary series is for students who are just starting to read on their own. It does a great job of keeping students interested and wanting to read more! This is the first book in a scary series called The School Is Alive! It tells the story of Sam Graves and how he and his friends try to fight the evil school.

Ivy and Bean by Annie Barrows

It is the first book in the Ivy and Bean series by Annie Burrows. It tells the story of two girls who are so different that they think they will never be friends. But when Bean gets into trouble and Ivy comes to her rescue, the two girls think again about becoming friends.

She is the world's funniest first-grader, and kids love her. So, Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus, by Barbara Park, is the first in this series. It's a great way to get your students excited about Junie B. Jones and all of the things she can do. Take a look at Junie B. Jones as she goes through her first day at school and all of the stress that comes with it.
