Books About Life Purpose

When someone lives a purposeful life, it's a good bet that they'll be happy, as well.

Many people, on the other hand, don't think about what they're working hard for and just go about their lives. Without a goal in life, you might think you're not going anywhere, which can make you anxious and unhappy. To be happy, you need to know what drives you.

However, it can be hard to figure out what your purpose in life is. At the beginning.

These are the best books on how to find a purpose in your life. To find what makes you happy in 2021, you should read one of the books we've talked about.

Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl

While in prison, he notices that only those who have a sense of purpose and meaning in their pain are likely to survive. He keeps himself alive so that he can one day give a lecture about the psychological state of people in concentration camps, which he did.

A lot of his work is raw and scary at times, but it's also very moving and motivating. If you read this, you know for sure that this person had to find a reason to live or die.

"My favorite quote from the book is "

There is a certain amount of tension in mental health. This tension comes from the difference between what one has already done and what one still needs to do, or the gap between who you are and what you should be. Rather than a stress-free state, a man needs to work hard and fight for a worthwhile goal, a task that he has chosen on his own.

Staring At The Sun by Irvin D. Yalom

How to live with sadness: This book talks about death and meaninglessness, which is a welcome change!

There are two things I like about this book. First, it encourages the reader to think about something we often don't think about: our own death. He convincingly says that thinking about death makes life more exciting and meaningful. In the past, there were whole theories (like Terror Management Theory) that talked about how scared we are of death. This is a welcome change!

As a second thing, this book is a condensed version of the best ideas the author has come up with over a long period of time. Some of Dr. Yalom's patients have had anxiety about death and meaninglessness, and these are the ideas that have helped them, as well as Dr. Yalom. He often tells people to think about the ideas in terms of their own lives.

It's also short and easy to read, so it won't seem like a big deal.

The Code Of The Extraordinary Mind by Vishen Lakhiani

In this book, I learned how to be more bold and comfortable with my own dreams.

You can stop following society's "BS" rules in this book because it gave me the OK to do so.

In this book, I learned how to finally stop worrying about what other people think about me. I knew I had a reason for living, but I didn't know if it was the right one. This book taught me how to free myself to live.

It taught me how to live my own life, not someone else's.

The Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton

Thomas Merton's words have stayed with me for years because of how simple and beautiful they are.

On the other hand, Thomas Merton's memoir about becoming a Trappist monk has always been an inspiration to me even though I am not Catholic or a monk.

It isn't even close to what he went through, but the way he looked for hope and fulfillment is a great example of how our own journeys can take us where we want to go. Merton made some bad decisions at the start of his life that caused him a lot of pain. His life changed after he found out what made him happy.

In the end, he took the path that felt right to him. His search is a good example for us all, because we can learn from it.

Boundaries by H. Cloud and J. Townsend

During this book, I learned that "No" is a complete sentence and it's OK to say it. This book gave me new life.

Making a plan to find your purpose in life isn't the only way to find your purpose in life. It's also important to look at the underlying issues that might be keeping us from finding our purpose. This book taught me that boundaries are there to keep me safe.

In the past, this has helped me protect my own journey to find my purpose. It has given me the strength to say "no" to things that don't fit with my goals. This is one of the best books I've ever read as a therapist to help people get out of the way of other people and the world.

Lovingkindness by Sharon Salzberg

I always tell my clients and family to read this book about how to find your purpose in life. Lovingkindness doesn't just help you figure out what you want to do in life; it completely changes your life and how you connect with yourself and other people.

Not only is it written in a conversational tone, but the book also has a lot of exercises and questions for you to do and think about. It's not just a self-help book, though. It's also a book about how to live a good life. When you read this book, it doesn't just tell you what to do. It gives examples of why you should do it, how it will change your world, and how it will change the world around you.

Waking Up by Sam Harris

Waking Up by Sam Harris is the best book I've read to help me find meaning. A lot of the time, it's about meditation and giving up the idea of the self.

To help people like me who don't believe in God live a meaningful life, the author bridges the gap between science and "spirituality" (for lack of a better term).

The Happiness Trap by Russ Harris

Readers can use the book to figure out what their core values are. Core values help you make big decisions that make your life more meaningful and purposeful. They also help you figure out what to do every day.

The Happiness Trap also gives advice on how to be mindful, which helps people learn to pay attention to the things that are most important to them.

Closing words

It takes time to find your purpose in life, and it's likely that it won't happen right away. In fact, your purpose is a part of your life that changes over time. It's important to make sure that your daily life and mindset are always in line with your goal.

Books that can help you find your own reason for living are on this list. These are suggestions from people who know a lot about the subject. I'm sure there is a book on this list that will help you figure out your purpose.
